Audiobook Review: The Dom's Way (Iron Eagle Gym #5) by Sean Michael

Neal and Way from The Closet Boy are back, only now they’re Dom and sub, and exploring their relationship through the lifestyle. Way is eager to learn everything, and more in love with his master every day. For his part, Neal can’t believe how lucky he is to have found such an innocent but sensual boy.

As they learn what works best for them both, Way has trouble obeying some of the rules Neal imposes. Like the no touching himself rule. Neal wants Way to learn control, but Way, after so long holding back, has trouble not indulging. The two men must work together to find the balance that brings them each the most satisfaction and happiness.

This is the sequel to The Closet Boy, and the fifth Iron Eagle Gym novel.

Way’ra is a sweet, inexperienced man who was disowned by his parents when he came out, and carries baggage from their harsh treatment of him. Neal is an older man who pursues Way aggressively from their first meeting. This book is about their love match, and their discovery of each other as they grow into a couple through their Dom/sub relationship. Some of Neal’s behaviour in the first book felt a teeny bit predatory, but in this book, there is more of a balance of power between the two men, and most definitely lots of love. I particularly enjoyed the little snippets

There is a LOT of sex in this book - it’s Sean Michael after all, but the relationship development is strong and more relatable than some in the series. Neal and Way care deeply for each other and are looking to build a life together long term. There is a lovely sense of each man being the yin to each others’ yang that I adore, and it gives me all the feels. These days, real life is a constant state of “oh-my-god-what-has-gone-wrong-now” so I can’t get enough of feel-good low angst love stories. This one fits the bill nicely.

Jeff Gelder has narrated the entire series so far and I love his vocal tones and expressions. I’m pretty sure I’d listen to the phone directory being read by Jeff, his voice is so soothing.
